We left Pugwash and travelled to Amherst, Nova Scotia.  We got gas, toured the town, had a bite to eat, and decided to stay the night as it was getting late.

We woke up this morning to lots of rain and heavy fog.  What a shame as we were looking forward to travelling across the Confederation Bridge - should have done it last night when it was clear!  We're learning that the weather changes fast on the coast - which means do things immediately when you have the chance.

After visiting the Prince Edward Island Information Booth to determine the best way to tackle PEI in one day - we headed to Summerside for lunch.  It's their 2nd largest city but small and quaint.

PEI has a total population of 138,000 people - so not a surprise to find everything laid back and friendly on the island.  What did we notice most besides quiet - green, green, & more green oh and lots of red soil! Plus PEI looks very prosperous - they have 3 main industries, agriculture, (mostly pototoes, but we saw lots of grain, corn & canola as well), fisheries, and tourism.

Unfortunately, it rained the entire day so we couldn't get out and explore much.  But we did drive up to see the Anne of Green Gables homestead and followed the coastal highway as much as possible before heading down to the ferry at Woods Island which took us to Pictou, Nova Scotia.

I think PEI would be very nice to spend at least a week or more - there is so much to see and explore and taste.  One day just did not do it any justice - especially in the rain.

From Pictou we drove to New Glasgow where we stayed the night and had dinner.
