Not much to write about this week. I didn't even take any photos! Monday public holiday was another sleep-in then work in the arvo with a (long) family skype session. The rest of the work week saw progressive return of the expats. This was my signal to stay away from the bar and not get caught up in the inevitable drinking sessions. I laid pretty low all week and got back into my gym routine and going to the wet mess on Wed and Saturdays. Last night (Saturday) was dull at the bar tho cause they all blew out on the Friday night (typical!) so I returned to my room to watch a dvd.

Every evening this week I was up relatively late finalising details for my next break. I booked a Kenyan Tented Camp stay and was dealing with a booking agency in Melbourne. So of course the time difference meant that the only hours he was able to talk was the exact hrs of my usual sleep time! After a bit of tooing and froing (what a strange phrase to write and I’m not sure it is even written correctly) I was able to secure the dates I wanted. Check out It is an all inclusive place, but involves a flight from Nairobi to the Amboseli National Park on what will likely be a tiny little plane that I will keep my eyes closed for the 45 min flight. At almost $3.5k it better be good and I hope to see more than elephants and have at least 1 clear viewing day of Mt Kilimanjaro – a place that I’ve wanted to see for a long time!

Today I have confirmed my accommodation for Zanzibar – staying in a $35/night place in Stone Town and then a resort up north for 7 nights to relax, sleep and hopefully learn to scuba dive. I’m very intrigued to see what $35 gets me! The resort looks a bit like Bali, but the beaches are hopefully much nicer. Flights are booked too. I have to do a Nairobi overnight stop on way back to Ghana and a friend just sent me a news link about the terror threat in Kenya now being "critical"...super. I won’t be venturing out into the streets anyway.

A fun-fact: In 1896, Zanzibar was the location of the world's shortest war — they surrendered to the British Army after 38 minutes.

I’m also investigating options for my 30th bday in July. I originally wanted to Hot Air Balloon over the Serengeti in Tanzania where the wildebeest migration occurs. I’d already scrapped that idea and then read the news about the terrible balloon crash in NZ. Not much news really connects with me, but that event does. I cannot imagine dying like that, it is truly awful and sad. Anywho – the hot air balloon 30th thing is off the cards for sure. So, the plan is to travel Europe with the woman who gave birth to me and then finish in London to attend the Olympics! It will mad busy, but something I’ve thought about for years now. Bring it on.

Well, Japan could be on the cards late this year. And I'm actually keen on Antartica just so i can tick off all the 7 continents in my life-time. it would be kinda chilly tho.

cool Mold. Not sure i'd want to work there, but it would be amazing to travel there for a few days before i get frost-bite and decide to take my penguin and leave.
