What I did
Friday night was a celebration party of the 1st Concrete Pour that happened while I was on break. Really well organised function down at the new resort/golf course. They imported steaks and wine from South Africa. Delicious! A local band played. It was good to mix with people outside the usual crew and meet some new faces. Not a late night. I think I was back at camp by 11pm, work the next day.
Actually, the most exciting highlight was that I booked my flights for my next break! Fly out 1st Oct to Lima, Peru to meet my friend Melissa for our South American Trip of Awesome Awesomeness. We’ll be doing a 12 day tour of the major Peru highlights, hitting the Amazon Jungle for a couple of nights and then Bolivia and Buenos Aries, Argentina. Excited!
As I type this, I’m watching CNN and the Anniversary Commemorations for the Sept 11 USA attacks. This day 10 years ago, I was typing an essay for a 2nd year university assignment at home when I learned of the planes crashing into the World Trade Centers. It is more interesting watching the news coverage having been to the ground zero site only a few weeks ago. 10 years ago, I had no interest of working overseas or even travelling. I hadn’t even been on an aeroplane or been outside Western Australia! Now I am sick of travelling on aeroplanes and fortunate to have seen so many global places I never expected to see. Amazing what changes and evolves in a decade.
