Hi I like our new hotel it is part of our Spanish scool. Our hotel has a kitchen in our room and you can put the paper in the toilet!! My teacher is called Yanira. My notebook says Cars. Here is some Spanish I learned. este es mi cuaderno (this is my book). Pretty good hey!!! We start at 8:00 in the morning until noon .We started on Monday on Feb.the 25.

There are two Walter's here. The older Walter (Del gado) owns the language school. The young Walter (Garcia) lives here in one of the dorm rooms. Walter Garcia is a good painter. He painted the mural at our first hotel in Esteli. He just got a job painting murals all over the country at the schools. In the next 5 years his group of 10 painters will try to paint 500 murals. He is nice and he is giving me art lessons.

This ia a fairly new house we stay at (the language school) but it has seen some dramatic history. A while after it was first built there was a war going on. Around 1978 there were soldiers here. At house across the street a man got dragged out onto the street and the soldiers were going to shoot him. Walter's dad ran out on the street and said "do you know if this man has hurt or killed anybody" they said no. Because Walter's dad was helping support the soldiers they believed him and let the man go. Then 2 months later the other sides soldiers took Walter's dad out of the house and they were going to shoot him, and his neighbour ran out onto the street and saved his live.

This house was built on the perfect spot because they could see all around. You could see about a 180 degree view. You can see the river and the mountains. The soldiers liked the house so they put their important soldiers in it. The house is made with lot's of cement and rocks. The cement is thick. There are bullet holes in the house from the war. There are holes in parts of the roof from airlplanes shooting too and some from grenades.

That is a pretty interesting story isn't it.

Yesterday I played cards and cribbage with Jess. His room is in the dorm. I think the beds are too small for him. He is from Oregon. If you change the e's to i's you will get origin.

Esteli has those 400 volt speaker cars too. It is too loud. I think they should fine them every day they drive around. There are tons of dogs, tons of cats, tons of rooster and a pig. The pig lives right next to our house, oink, oink, cock-a-doodle-doo a cat in the shoe.

I had pancakes for breakfast today

Thank you
Thanks Dalton for the photos, the video and the written account. Abuela has seen the video and the photos, but has not yet read your story. I couldn't remember how to call it up while she was here. I'll show her tomorrow. She will be impressed.

I wish I had gone to a Spanish language school now that I'm going to Mexico next week.

Lots of love,
