Lake Placid was amazing place and both Graeme and I said we would come back for a week next time.
Had a good nights sleep and was up and ready to go, check out of the very old hostel and got onto the road. But I want to go have a look at Syracuse University while I was here and always wanted a t-shirt so this was the best chance I had so Graeme & I drove down to the University and parked just outside the University shop. We would of been 20 minutes at the most and I walk out with 2 hoddies and a t-shirt total cost US $78. But I also got a parking fine for $25(parking without a ticket) and because we were leaving the city I had to pay it now, so for the next hour I drove around Syracuse to find where to pay this bill. In the end I paid the fine and we got back on the road at 11.00am heading north the Lake Placid. On the way there we drove through the Adirondack Forest Reserve stopping for lunch at a place call Old Forge, then continuing on to Lake Placid pasting through Blue Mountain Lake on the way. We arrived at Lake Placid at 4.00pm and went to check into the hostel, it was a very nice hostel and was right on the lake, it cost $30 for the night and included cooked breakfast in the morning. Then Graeme and I went for a look at the Olypmic Ski Jump for the 1980 Winter Olypmic Games (Lake Placid also held the 1932 Winter Games). Then we went out for dinner to this little pub just down form the hostel. Looked around main street and walk back to the hostel, where I catch up on my Postcards home and then play cards for a couple hours with Graeme before heading to bed at 11.00pm and slept like a baby.
