This trip started at the Pittsburgh airport and it took me the longest to get through security. I had 5 cameras; yes 5: 2 - 35mm, one a Canon with a normal date stamp and the 2nd one a Yashica with a blurry date stamp and longer zoom lens. I had to take both because what if one failed? I also had 3 disposable cameras that I got for $3 a piece at Staples along with 25 rolls of film! I had it hand checked instead of x-ray and the man doing it thought it was the never-ending , bottomless fanny pack of film!

We landed at Dublin airport and picked up our rental car. We had previously taken escorted tours where our luggage and driving was handled by someone else. None of us had ever driven in the UK or Ireland before so this was a first. None of us wanted to do the driving! We let Suzi take the drivers seat & no lie, it took us about 20-30 minutes to figure out the car & leave the parking lot! lol Suzi drove while Leanne & I read maps & signs while also trying to figure out the roundabouts.

We had an itinerary & County Meath was where our stops &  B&B for the night were. While we were driving through Trim, Suzi went in the right lane after making a turn which I had to politely remind her "left lane!". There was also a car coming in the opposite direction & he just kind of laughed it off.  Trim Castle was first & this was where parts of Braveheart were filmed. It is mostly a ruined castle but the walls and roof are intact. We explored the grounds and purchased our Heritage Card here. This card gave us free access to certain castles and museums. We ate at a small restaurant here.

We drove to the next place, Hill of Tara. They request people to view the video before exploring so you have an understanding of what you are looking at. I am glad we did this. If not, it just looks like a mound! This dates back to 2500BC and there is also a standing stone. We left here and went to our Bed & Breakfast, TIGH CATHAIN around 4pm. We checked in & had a cute room with 3 single beds. We got our showers & lounged around waiting for evening & possibly go out. But that never happened as I laid down around 6pm & fell asleep & did not wake up till 8am the next day! My friend said I was in the same position each time she looked over. I don't think I ever slept that long in my life! lol
