Raining on and off (mostly on) today, had to drive from Punakaiki to Fox Glacier. There were of course, tons of curves again, we found one that they cautioned you to take at 15 kph, to put that in perspective for you guys they usually caution you to take the curves anywhere from 65 to 85 kmp...the speed limit is 100. This has been confirmed by officer friendly, who found me traveling the only long, straight, dry road at 114 kmp....ooops
They also have one lane bridges that you have to figure out who is supposed to "give way" by who has the bigger arrow on the sign, we have seen these throughout the South Island, BUT this time the really long bridge had a new challenge it was the same narrow one lane bridge that the train uses - the train which is exempt from "giving way" SOOOooo what do you do if a train comes chugging along towards you while in the middle of the bridge??!?!?!?!?
We stopped at the Franz Josef Gacier along the way and discovered the ferociousness of the sand flies within minutes of getting out of the car. We met up with Sarah and Nick from Team England at the visitor center learning about the glacier. They are stopping here, we will carry on through to Fox Glacier - next door...
