Now on to Cork. This morning we met up with Cronin's, Christy and Nora, who graciously played our tour guides. We stopped at the most beautiful place. The Chapel of St. Finbarr at Gougane Barra, Cork. This small Chapel is near where St. Finbarr established his hermitage and monastery in the 6th century. It is the place where people can have a small intimate family wedding and be surrounds by peace, tranquility, and beauty.
Then we went to the house where my Grandpa Creedon grew up in Toon's Bridge, Macroom, Co. Cork. The house is stilled owned by family so we got to meet family, Eileen and Connie Creedon, and see the house. The front of the house is actually Creedon's Pub and back in the day was also a post office, gas station, and store. Creedon's Pub is still open daily. There are couches in the bar - what a great idea, why don't we do that? Out the back you can see An Grianan Hill where Grandpa used to play. I got to pour a Guiness behind the bar 03 An Grianan Hill

. Connie Creedon could tell Aunt Kathleen was a Creedon before we even got to introduce our selves. I have waited most of my life to take a picture in front of Creedon's Pub (my dad has one and I have always wanted to be able to get a chance to see where Grandpa grew up too). Then we went and visited the cemetery in Cork. It was a beautiful place. Very old tombstones, lots of history.
On to the Cashman's in Carrigtohill, Cork and met J.J., Hugh, Dennis, and Siobhan (aka Baudy) (nee O'Leary). Baudy's mother was Margaret (Madge) Creedon - sister to Jeremiah Creedon (Grandpa), Peter Creedon, and Mary Creedon Cronin. We had a feast for "tea" it was great. I love tea in Ireland, what to they differently than us...so much better.
Next we went to Watergrasshill in Cork. We toured Christy and Nora's son, John's, new house. John Cronin is my second cousin. and then headed over to meet more family - Eileen Cronin (John's sister), Paddy, Gerald, Christy, and Norma Cronin all at the Cronin Family home in Cork City, Cork. Their mother was Mary Creedon Cronin. Their Uncle, (which also makes him my grandfather), has a portrait hanging on the wall which was very cool to see. What a day!!!
