First order of business: beer...! We visited the Hofbrauhaus (the oldest beer hall in the world) and watched the crazy Germans wander by. The weather is cool: just a light jacket needed for sitting outside in the bier garten, where we enjoyed pretzels, spaetzel and more beer. After a long trip from the US and serious jet-lag and adjustment to the time change- this is the best place to ease ourselves in the European experience: the food, the people watching, just hanging out: Zwei biere bitte.
'Crazy' was redefined at Oktoberfest- inside several very large beer tents, the beer was flowing the brass band was playing and the drunks were dancing and singing on the tables. THAT was an amazing cultural experience.
One thing missing was our means of transportation for this journey: So on the Welt..
After photo ops and an in depth introduction to her new vehicle, Dawn took her "victory lap" around the interior of the Welt, picked up John and cruised down the carpet ladened ramp, through the rest of the Welt, and spits you back out just across the street from the factory where the car had just been created. Now, with the new keys in hand, we've recovered from the flight, we're excited to start on our Road Trip on the Autobahn to Switzerland.
Apparently they're more interested in getting drunk here in Munich than having internet up & running, so we've had a delay in making a connection to you all.. more to come from Lucerne!
