This morning we started our adventures by checking out the Chimney Tree. Not just another tourist scam, - oh, my mistake, yes it is! - this tree is blacked out from a fire or something. Anyway it was kind of cool to take a peak inside and I don't think we had to pay for it so why not.
We drove down the Avenue of Giants, which is surrounded by massive redwood trees. They are amazing. Standing in the forest surrounded by them makes you feel pretty insignificant. And easy to lose. We spent a couple hours in the redwood forest before continuing our road trip through northern California to Sacramento. It was a long and uneventful drive. We finally got to the capital city and spotted a Sheraton. We thought we'd test our luck and see what kind of rate they'd give us. Turns out it was a great rate so I happily carted my luggage up to my Sweet Sleeper for the night!
