Today we had a long drive ahead of us. It was going to take about eight hours of straight driving to get from Warnambool to Adelaide. We had to get there tonight because we have a flight out of Adelaide to catch tomorrow morning.

Still, we managed to stop at some cool sights along the way. First we went to Cape Bridgewater to see the petrified forest. It isn't actually a forest though. It turns out its hollow tubes of limestone eroded by rainfall. Right beside this "petrified forest" is a very impressive blow hole, so we also checked that out. The park that hosts these two sights was dead. We passed one other couple as we were approaching the blow holes and they were leaving. It has been pretty nice having so many fascinating sights all to ourselves these past couple of days!

After watching the blow hole for quite some time, we reluctantly got back in the car and made our way to the Princess Margaret Rose Cave The apparant "petrified forest"

. This is a really cool limestone cave, still in Victoria. It has actively growing stalactites, stalagmites, and helictites. There are some other really interesting formations as well inside the cave. We took a guided tour of the caves. We learned some history of the cave and it is a pretty unique limestone cave. Its formation and how it was discovered are certainly unusual. Originally the entrance was a 17m shaft, so the original owners built a stairwell that took five years to complete!

Well, we had seen some cool things but we were still in Victoria and had to get ourselves over the South Australia border and in to Adelaide, so we didn't stop again until we got there. By then it was evening so we checked into our hotel and got some dinner together. Adelaide is a pretty sleepy town and there didn't seem to be much nightlife as we were walking around looking for food. We had a quiet evening but I am so excited about going to see the Great Barrier Reef!
