[Removed] and I drove out of Surrey in our borrowed Explorer and took the Sea to Sky highway up to Whistler. We made a few viewpoint stops along the way but not as many as I wanted as I kept missing them. The signs don't come early enough for me, I guess.

We took a very short hike from the parking lot to Shannon Falls then got back in the car with the intention of stopping to take a look at the Chief, the famous climbing rock. But of course I missed that pullover too.

Finally in Whistler we quickly located our hotel (thank you, Dad's GPS). We dropped off our bag and walked around the Village to scope out our bike rental options. I ended up buying some bike shorts which I really needed before hitting the trails. We decided on the right rental option for us then went back to our room to change. I also booked myself into the spa for later in the evening.

The sky was clear, the sun was shining and it was perfectly warm for flying down a mountain on a bike. We got a lift pass that was good for three rides up and our bike rental was for an hour, though the guys said if we returned it in two we were good. We put on our body armor and headed to the lift. It is pretty cool but I was totally a girl about getting my bike on properly. The first time I got my bike loaded just in the nick of time. Getting off the lift is a lot easier because there are some guys at the top who remove the bikes for us and just hand them over.

The bikes felt a bit weird after riding a mountain bike. They are low and so are the seats, and when you sit down the bike lowers eve more because of the shocks.

I stuck to the same easy downhill trail for all three rides. The first time I was pretty cautious and it took me a long time to get to the bottom. On the second trip I told [removed] to feel free to ditch me for the intermediate runs, and we met up a couple times along the way where the trails merged. One time being when I drove the bike into a tree. Luckily he arrived shortly thereafter to pick me up. Then I slowed down a bit since I was still shaky. When we got to the bottom and were mounting our bikes on the lift I was totally weak and some stranger helped me get it on.

With bruised knees I went down one last time full throttle and it was awesome. We finished just short of the bike park closing so it was great timing. We washed our bikes at the bike wash below the lifts then returned them to the rental shop and headed back to the room to get cleaned up. The back of my jacket was completely baked with mud but my legs were only speckled.

After cleaning up it was time for my massage and body scrub which was magical. The masseuse gave me a deep tissue massage and really worked the downhill biking out of my back. It was heavenly!

For dinner we walked down to the Brewhouse and sampled some beers. I wasn't very happy with mine but the server did warn me it's quite bitter and she wasn't kidding. The food was better but nothing fabulous.
