I left off in Madrid before taking a blogging break over the holiday season. I stayed the entire time with family in England, basically between East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells. Christmas Eve we went to the club for some family bonding and drinking. I spent most of the night playing pool with the boys. The next day the house was quiet well after 10am which is not a luxury I remember on Christmas morning. But the house was full by 3pm as the fifteen dinner guests arrived! The "kids" (the youngest being 18 and me being the oldest) all sat at a separate table from the "grown-ups". We ate a huge and delicious meal followed by an insane amount of dessert. The kids table was far quieter than the grown-ups. I think we were all a bit jaded from the night before. I seemed to be quite behind on my sleep on Christmas day so once my grandpa had left I decided to call it a night and snuck up to bed while the party continued on downstairs.
Auntie Ali picked me up on Boxing Day with my cousins Sadie and Ben, and we went over to her boyfriend's house and got organized there before joining his adult children and their aunt, cousin, and grandmother for another delicious and large meal. I am ashamed to admit I couldn't eat half as much dessert as everyone else at the table. After the food was cleared away we spent most of the night playing board games which was a lot of fun.
I spent the next two nights at his beautiful house and then went back to Ali's for a few more days. Then Anne picked me up so I could spend New Year's Eve with Andrew. He took me to a house party his friend was throwing. It was really good and included a DJ who was also the homeowner's brother. And now I am moving on to the next phase of my life in Switzerland!
