Today I made it to Warsaw without too many problems. I did have a scare though. I got to the airport ridiculously early and went to the check in counter. I was happy to see that the airline I had booked with but never heard of before was a Star Alliance member. But when I got to the counter the gal told me she couldn't find my ticket number in the system. I brought my booking confirmation but it didn't have a ticket number. So I had to wait for the ticket office upstairs to open and talk to them. After an agonizing 30 minutes the office opened. It turns out they just wanted to see my credit card since the associated address is in Calgary.
The plane held 48 people and it wasn't full. They had excellent service though. On our 1 hour 40 minute flight we got a cold meal of ham, cheese, bread, peppers and even a chocolate bar for dessert. I definitely got a good deal on the flight. And the flight attendant next to me (I sat in row 1 next to him) took my bags for me and spoke to me in perfect English
We landed in Warsaw right at 4pm and it was already sunset. By the time I got to my hostel it was dark and not even 5pm. I put my things away and then headed down to central station. Only a block from the hostel I smelled the most delicious food and noticed a large line of people in front of a small dingy open window. There was a man in there carving kebab meat off a big hunk rotating beside him. I figured the length of the queue was a good indication of the food. I was not disappointed. I had possibly the best kebab pita ever. And the dude spoke excellent English to boot. In places like that I usually rely on pointing but not here! I am definitely going back tomorrow.
Once I had my dinner I continued on to the shops and then to Old Town. It was amazing. The entire area is all done up for Christmas with bright lights and decorations. Warsaw is absolutely beautiful at night and I can't wait to see it in the daylight!

What a fantastic time to travel. To see how all the different nationalities decorate their towns and celabrate the season.
