Back from my vacation to my laborious job here in Ghana. I went into Takoradi today with Katherine as we both had errands to run (not work related). We got a ride to the junction then tro-ed it to the big town. I was going to say city but I think that would be misleading. Anyway, our day in town was pretty uneventful until the ride back. The tro tro from Agona to Akwidaa sat for at least an hour waiting to fill up before leaving the station. Then it was so over-packed we were skeptical it could actually get moving. To make matters worse, a huge Ghanaian woman larger than life got on the already overfilled tro and somehow wedged herself on top of a man that looked about 200 years old and as thick as a twig. I am happy to report he lived through the trip.

It wasn't until we were rolling along that I noticed a chicken next to us and the bare feet dangling down from the roof  onto the window in front of my face. The tro made its way very slowly and painfully along the bumpiest road ever - the road to the village and our lodge. We got home hours later than we had planned and still have work to do! Luckily our work never takes too long.

In other news I am getting a cold. I wonder if I am the only person to get a cold while in Africa during the dry season as it seems quite ridiculous to me. Still, better than getting malaria!
