Today we painted sign boards for the village entrance. "Welcome to Akwidaa Traditional Area" on the main sign, and then a sign below that listing the ecotours you can do here, including turtle conservation, canoe trips through the mangroves, and rainforest hikes. Once our signs were done we had the rest of the day off to do whatever we wanted so I didn't do much of anything. More reading, relaxing, socializing, and a bit of swimming. I don't really know if you can call it swimming, actually. Most days the current is incredibly strong and there is a rip so I just let the waves come to me on these days, and carry me back towards the beach. I stay fairly shallow and wait for the waves to break. I am not usually brave enough to dive through the waves to swim out past the break lines but when I do manage to it is very satisfying and I get some decent exercise. I miss the gym!
In the evening we drank Green Turtles, which seem to be vodka, orange juice, and a blue liqueur to make them green. I went to bed pretty early since we are leaving for our weekend getaway first thing tomorrow.
