I rose early today and read my book while waiting for breakfast. It was so hot last night that it was a bit difficult to sleep. I would wake up in a sweat and then have to shuffle around and try to cool down before sleeping again.
After breakfast we walked to Akwidaa village, about 25 minutes walk up the beach, where we visited three schools. We talked to the head teachers about the parade we were organizing tomorrow to make sure everyone was prepared. Everyone was not, but hopefully after our meetings today they are now.
After the meetings we walked back to the lodge and had the rest of the day off. It was very hot today. I did a lot of reading and dived into the surf with the girls. It was actually really good exercise trying to swim against the current, which is pretty strong here
After dinner I went on a night walk with Moses, one of the night walk guides. We walked 45 minutes down the beach and turned back. We were almost at the lodge when Katherine spotted tracks and we followed them with our flashlights to a nesting turtle! She was a green turtle, which are fairly rare, and we tried not to distract her as we watched in fascination. Moses went to get the guests so they could see her. We told everyone not to take pictures until she was done nesting but when she was done to go ahead. She got confused by all the flashes and couldn't find her way back to the water. Finally we told everyone to stop and she saw the ocean again and was on her way. It was a phenomenal experience!

Our commute to the village
. We planned some weekend trips for our upcoming days off while we are all together. So far the food here has been really good. I also met some fun German girls that Katherine had met on a previous stay they made at the lodge. We had dinner with them and an arrogant American that started quite a debate with the five of us. It was good though and we all enjoyed his ignorance. After dinner I went on a night walk with Moses, one of the night walk guides. We walked 45 minutes down the beach and turned back. Whoah...
Who is this American and what did he do that was so arrogant? Inquiring readers want to know!
