I think I have already told just about anyone who will stand still long enough to listen that I ended up accepting the job offer in Switzerland. Once I accepted they sweetened the pot a bit and offered me a furnished apartment for my first two months while I settle in, and a few bucks to help with my moving expenses. How fabulous! So now I have to figure out what I am going to do next.
The job doesn't start until next year so I have some time to do a bit of traveling as an unemployed bum. I have the volunteer work in Ghana coming up very quickly now and decided since it is not really a vacation I should follow it up with one - so I am spending a week in a beautiful dive boat on the Red Sea and even got a full day stopover in Riga. That is going to be pretty fun going from super hot and humid Ghana to crisp and cold Latvia then back to the sun in Egypt. I might actually appreciate the day of cooler weather (as long as it isn't Calgary cold), but it is going to make for interesting packing. Hopefully I can find a way to avoid lugging my winter coat around Ghana since all flights go through London ... it seems like a good time to call on family! I have booked my flights to Riga and Hurghada, and the return flight to London already, but plans around that aren't really clear. I would like to book my round trip flight from London to Accra but since their offices are in Accra and London I have not yet managed to call them from Skype (way cheaper than using my cell phone) during their open hours, but I hopefully will remember to when I wake up tomorrow morning. I have a tentative booking I did online but I have to call in to confirm and pay. Being this broke is very exciting!
Once I am done diving I am currently planning on returning to Vancouver for Christmas before making the big move to Basel. So much to do, so little time!
