After we had spent 20 days in Europe on our contiki, we travelled to Manchester and stayed for a week with Brenden and Katrina.  THANKS A MILLION GUYS!!!

Here we were re-introdced to Milo and Vegemite!!! Yum Yum... Kate and I ate a whole tin of milo in 5 days!! (we were deprived of it!!).  We also met all of the other housmates (who are all musos) and of coarse Jinx the crazy kitten!!  (who is more like a dog than a cat!)

The start of our time in Manchester was spent being blobs.... watching movies, and catching up on sleep lost on contiki.  We also ventured out one day and descovered the wonders of "Primark".  (Think Myer with crazy clarke's prices!!)  After a day of bargain hunting we headed off to Leyland to watch Brenden and Katrina rehearse for their big competition coming up on the weekend.

That weekend was the English Nationals in Preston.  Me and Kate were now the honourery groupies for Leyland band, sitting in on their morning rehearsal and then being their biggest fan's in the audience.  Kate and I sat through heaps of band (5million in Kate's words) playing On Alderly Edge.  We got to see Grimethorpe (who won on the day), YBS, Brighouse, Fodens, Fairies, and of coarse Leyland (who we thought were the best!!) and heaps of other top band we had only ever heard on CD. It was awesome!! I also saw Rodney there (from Brisbane xlcr) who was playing solo cornet for Leyland.

The next day it was raining (just for a change) so we got in the car for a sight see of Manchester.  After stocking up on (from the mouth of Brenden) "sweeties" (he he - aka. lollies), we drove to a number of places.  We went to the Royal Northern College of Music, Salford Uni, the Town hall (which had a big festival going on in the square), the Manchester United stadium, and the music school that Harry Potter's Library in filmed in!!!

The next day Brenden took us on the 'un-official' brassed off tour all trough Yorkshire.  We drove up through the moors and then to Saddleworth (where the whit Friday marches are held).  After seeing all the little towns in Saddleworth, we stopped at a brass band pub which had photos and memorabilia of brass bands all over the walls.  (There was even a photo of Brian Hurdley on the wall!!)

After that we drove to Liverpool and went into the Beatles museum.  Feeling very inspired, we then went and saw the real 'Penny Lane'!

Thanks for an awesome time Brenden and Katrina!!!
