DUBLIN TO BRAY We arrived at our Dublin hostel just in time for a midnight reunion with Benn. After not sleeping a wink (someone in our 8 bed room was calling out in their sleep) we set off to find our shaggin wagon.
The luck of the Irish was on our side, because we got upgraded to a really flash car, called Dougal. Dougal treated us well! We bunny hopped down the M50 to our favourite Contiki song, LOVE TODAY (By Mika). We were all in good spirits and celebrated our first Irish traffic jam (and second and third...).
BRAY TO GLENDALOUGH
We followed a Wild West carnival ride down the east coast of Ireland to the seaside village of Bray. Then we all rolled up our pants for a swim but stopped short when we felt the water temp!!! Had a rock skimming competition instead and Kate dropped her entire bag in the ocean when she won! We warmed up with hot spuds and soup at the pub.
Driving on to Glendalough (glen-da-lock) we chatted to the locals and got more info out of them them than from the information centres! We walked around the small village (and all made a great fashion statement with our thongs and raincoats).
It was creepy stumbling across little graveyards, as the grass in front of the tombstones was all lumpy from the bodies....heh heh......or from something else like tree roots...or just really lumpy ground....(we didn't really investigate that too much!)
Just as we started to celebrated a patch of blue sky, we heard a huge rip and had to sprint back to the car to out-run another storm!! We had our first Irish Guinness (Way better than the ones we get at home) and snuggled on the couch to watch Good Will Hunting before bed.
* St Kevin was legend in Glendalough (he crowned his lady with spikey thistles and threw her in the lake we walked around!)
* Mary, Patrick and Thomas Byrne were the most common names in the graveyard.

Hi Julia & Kate,
Gee it's just as well you two get on together as trying to have a good night's sleep crammed in that cot must be interesting- hey what's wrong with the other 3 normal beds in the photo?? & I thought the cot was for Leprechauns?? Anyway good to hear from you. Cheers- Alistair (BIG AL)
