We were exhausted after a huge day on the road, but had to peel our eyes open when we arrived in Washington DC for our 3 hours night tour of the city. (7-10pm). It was so surreal to see such famous memorials and monuments lighting up the darkness.......our tiredness made it seem more of a ghost tour then an educational tour!! The forrest gump water fountain was absolutely beautiful when lit up at night, as were the White House, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Capitol Building, and the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.
We dressed up for a night of partying in Georgetown (best nightclubs in Washington) but ended up falling asleep in the bus after the tour, so went home instead!!!
Had a wicked sleep in today and caught the metro into the city centre around lunch time. We found a "sing America" competition in the park to raise $$ for homeless kids, so we sat around on the grass and watched a couple of school groups and workshops! Then we wandered to the Holocaust museam (wow.......hardcore) and then at an ice cream!!!!
We met our contiki friends around 5pm and all caught the metro to our first pro- American BASEBALL GAME!!!! GO WASHINGTON NATIONALS!!! (They anialated the NY Mets!!) We ate an American hotdog, dip 'n' dots ice cream, "fries with ketchup", and big cups of budwieser.... all the time screaming "Hey batter batter batter, st-rrrrrrike batter!!" The game was insanely long (4 hours!!!!!) so we went home after it and zzzzzzzzzzzzz!!
Final day in Washington and we woke up early to check out the Native Amican Indian Museum, Museum of American History, White House, Capital Building, Washington Monument, and Library of Congress with our friend "BOOFHEAD". By this stage we had seen enough museams to last us for the rest of our life, so we stole the decleration of Independence (just like in National Treasure the movie) and ate an ice cream in the park.
Dinner was at a wicked Irish pub so we ate stew and drank beer!!! We then went home, bought popcorn and other trashy American junk foods, and watched about 20 minutes of Lord of the Rings on tele before we zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!
