Last night I endured what must be one of the worst bus journeys to date, 10 hours of hell from Arequipa to Cuzco. At times I honestly didn't think I would make it here and was so relieved when the bus finally arrived at the terminal in Cuzco. I mean the driver was a complete loon. I know from all the other bus journeys Ive taken so far in South America that it must be the law that buses must overtake EVERY other vehicle on the road without exception or regard to the location you meet it on the road. Blind bends, crests of hills, blind bends on crests of hills, this was the speciality of this prick... Then there was the ridiculous heat with the blower on flat out until we were nearly passing out with heat stroke, then the heater was turned off until we nearly froze with hypothermia, then on again with the roasting and continue ad nauseam. To compound the heat, there was of course the smell, ah the smell... mmmm how best to describe the smell, I have no idea, like nothing I have ever smelt before but the kind that hangs and lingers and clings to you, oh no missis, there´s no escape from it.

Ok so I think thats everything covered for inside the bus, outside, the road was playing its own part in not allowing ANY sleep on this particular voyage into the unknown due to the continuous bumps, just when I thought it was smooth enough to attempt a bit of shut eye, bang bang bang bang again it would start.......  AAAHHHHHHH

I am happy to report that Cuzco itself was a great city and I include some pics of the place and some Inca ruins visited just as a warm up to Machu Picchu.
