El Misti is the huge volcano which can be seen rising majestically behind the cathedral in the Plaza de Armes here in the southern City of Arequipa. 16 hours on the bus from Lima and now again back at altitude at around 3000 meters. The bus journey wasn't too bad as Joe and I caught one of the really good buses (at night again) with Cruz del Sur, it was like being on an airplane flight, with a meal movies and big relining comfy seats. I missed the breakfast though as I was asleep..! Arrived fairly well rested though but I can never sleep properly on those things.
