This time I should have caught a day bus, however after mucho phaffing I kind of missed it... Me, on the phaf? I know its hard to believe but there we have it. There were other mitigating circumstances in that I had a severe hangover too.. I met up with a German guy, Joe, in Huarez who I was on the Galapagos boat trip with way back when, so of course we had to hit the town. I couldn't match Joe´s ruthless efficiency in sorting stuff out yesterday, so he managed to catch the bus and I had a day to waste waiting for mine which didn't leave until 11pm last night. So a lovely early arrival into Lima at 7 am this morning..
I found a hostel in the Miraflores area of the city which is a much more favorable area, according to the guide book, than the main part of the city, and had a quick catch up on some sleep. I mention this as, quite randomly, after I´d woken up I was at the window of my room with my map trying to suss out where on Earth I was when I looked down in the street and there was Joe crossing the road in front of my hostel, eerrrr quite remarkable
So far I´m quite impressed with the part of the city I have seen, it has modern buildings and would´t look out of place in Europe really. Just a short walk from my hostel is the sea front, so I have just had a stroll down there, not very sunny but quite humid, although at this time of year there is a lot of sea mist, as there is today, which will break in a few weeks when Spring starts here. Lots of surfing going on and paragliding off the cliffs that overlook the beach front. All very pleasant indeed, not even the usual stench of urine in the street which I know I´ve not mentioned before, but has to be the worst thing of the places I´ve visited to so far, Huarez was really bad for it. It can make one feel quite ill and there seems to be no escape from it at times, hence it is a refreshing change not to smell it here... but maybe its just the sea breeze..
Hope you´re enjoying the bank holiday weather back at home---!! ;-)

Snogging
. So as it was 1pm we went for some breakfast, he'd been out on the lash again till 5 this morning so had only just surfaced too...Still, quite amazing in a city of 7,7000,000 people, almost a third of all of Peru's population, that we manged to meet up like this.
