The Llanganuco to Santa Cruz trek is one of the most popular treks in these parts. Its a 4 day jaunt (it can be done in three) into the mountains sleeping in tents in the floooming freezing cold and doing lots of walking. I'm not going to ramble on that much about it as I think the photos do enough on their own.

It was, however, yet another fantastic experience and a very back to nature one at that. There are no flush toilets up in the mountains ya know, but in contrast we were treated to a three course meal every evening and a cooked breakfast in the morning and a little packed lunch to keep us going in the day. A cook a guide and thankfully donkeys to carry our backpacks and all the camping gear. I don't think Id have made it if Id of had to carry my entire backpack, well not in 4 days anyway Id probably still be out there somewhere. There were people that did, madness, I say, madness.

The prevailing factor of all must be the breathtaking views which made any amount of walking and scrambling and trying to catch your breath in the thinning air worthwhile. Hopefully my photos have captured some of the essence of what its like to be in a place like this surrounded by such natural beauty in the fresh tranquility of these mountains.
