Hello!!
Getting into this travel vibe a bit more now, have made some friends here over the last week, although the last guy I new left on Tuesday, no nothing that I said I´m sure. But its not so bad thats the ebb and flow of it all. I´ve made plans of my own now so I´m moving on too. I booked my flights to the Galapagos on Monday but couldn´t get a flight until 10th July, and its out of Guayaquil which is a large city in the south of Ecuador. May plan was to go south anyway but I was hoping to go to the Galapagos from here (Quito) so I now have a date to be somewhere it fells like I´ve properly stated the trip now. So tomorrow well Wednesday I´m heading south to start making my way to Guayaquil.

So to catch up, on Saturday I went to the Telefonica, with some guys from the hostel. Its a cable car ride up to a point above Quito where you are then at a height of 4100 meters. Some pics here of that. At the bottom of the cable car ride when we came back down, there is a small fun park with a roller coaster and pirate ship and all that kinda stuff, so we had a go on the roller coaster which was pretty mental bit like the Turbo roller coaster on Brighton Pier, (not a good reference if you don´t know it, but take a trip to Brighton if you like, or Quito) anyway, it was mad and got the old adrenalin pumping probably the altitude again and the thought of it falling off the track maybe added to it!! I´m waiting for a pic of us on the ride and will post it up when I can. Fun park
Fun park
(oh the suspense).

Sunday, I went with some people to the Equator, which is marked at a town called Mitad Del Mundo about 22 km north of Quito, it took about an hour and a half to get there and it rained most of the way there. But was OK when we arrived. Er well what can one say, I´ve been to the Equator really and here are a few pics here to prove it....  Errr we did kind of go to the wrong place, well we went to the official "Government" monument, but as I learned later there is a place a little further up the road where you can do Equatorial experiments like seeing how the water flows out of a basin in different directions if you are on the North or South of the Equator and balancing an egg on a nail, this can only be done on the Equator apparently. But I´m happy I was somewhere there or there abouts.. I mean "define the Equator" how wide or narrow can the line be? Anyway I was there somewhere..

More another time and probably in another place.. Hope the weather is good down at Fraggle Rock.
