Hello for the first proper entry.. Well all ok so far. Apart from having to waiting for about 2 hours at Quito airport for my backpack to arrive. My flight was late landing into Miami so I was pegging it about to get to the Quito flight, as I had to clear US customs and immigration with a million other people and had 40 mins before the flight left. Made it on to the plane where we then sat for an hour as one of the TV monitor housings in the cabin had been knocked of and we couldn`t take off with it dangling... we were AOG for a bloomin mounting bracket!! - (AJ Dub peeps know what I mean..) During the the flight I moved to a free window seat and sat next to a guy from Summerset, who had been living in the USA for years, who was coming to Quito to go to a Spanish school for a month.. nice guy who`d been here before so was good to talk to him and get some info.
Room is ok at the hostel, they gave me the wrong room so I have a room to myself with a double bed a single bed and a bathroom all 7 usd, ok its not the Ritz but not bad all the same. I have to move rooms tomorrow though!! nuts! Managed a couple of beers and then crashed out last night, met the people in the room next to me, 2 guys and a girl from Israel, being crap with names at the best of times I cannot report these facts to you now. I slept most of today, think I was up for over 24 hours yesterday.. Just been for stroll to the nearby park which was very
pleasant nice and warm and sunny. Sunday is a proper day of rest here about 3 shops open and hardly anyone about in the streets, but the park was packed, lots of people playing football, market stalls loads of artists selling their paintings, which were really good quality too.. I tested some of my Spanish and got a meat and veg skewer thing from one of the market guys, I think I asked for the lobster though but it was very nice anyway.
Thats it for now, just got to try and find my hostel again now, its dark out now but I think I remember the way back..
