Today was the unveiling of my new workshop "Don't Wait To Communicate With Your Unborn Baby!" I booked a meeting room at the Buckhead Library, publicized it in the local rag, on several Meet Up pages, on Facebook, and I even handed out flyers in 100 degree weather at a pregnancy conference. I prepared for my workshop like I would any training that I was conducting at a job, very thoroughly. So I arrived early, decorated and blessed the room, then waited. And waited. Mecca got so bored she started watching Netflix on my phone. Thomas grabbed a magazine from the shelves. I sat and looked expectantly toward the door. By 4:30pm we realized no one was coming. Mecca kept asking when the kids would arrive because we had set up a kids corner that she was in charge of. Thomas was a sport and suggested we video tape me doing parts of my presentation (great practice and I did have on lipstick.)
So here you go folks, a video clip of the introduction to my new workshop:
Why am I sharing this seeming failure with you? Because too often we all have creative inspirations that we don't act on. A great idea comes to us that totally lights us up, then we put it on the back burner for 'another day.' Or we simply talk ourselves out of acting because we think we can't make money at it or it's too hard. Well, in my year of living outrageously, I'm going for it! I'd rather be on the field and miss a few balls than sitting in the stands watching other players play full out. I'm disappointed that nobody showed up today, but now I have my materials prepared for next time. I know this workshop is valuable and can't wait to connect with pregnant women that feel the same way. In the mean time, I'll see if I'm inspired or guided to do anything else, but I already have the room booked for the last Tuesday in August.
Now I'm asking you, what are you inspired to do?
