We wanted to live this year big! It's 2012, a time of tremendous change, and I wanted to do something outrageous with my life. I'm blessed to have a husband and daughter who are so open and willing they jumped on board with me. So I get to live my greatest adventure with my two favorite people.
We have now been in Hawaii 51 days. We were scheduled to fly back to Atlanta on March 28th, but we've decided to stay here for awhile. I can't say that I love Hawaii so much I'll stay here forever. But right now, we aren't ready to return home, and aren't compelled to be anywhere else. Hence, we'll stay here. We finished our house-sitting gig this week and are looking to ca retake or house-sit another home. Since those opportunities are pretty scarce, we are also looking to rent a cottage for a couple of months. Thomas has work trickling in and has made some great contacts, so more should be coming. I'm enjoying homeschooling Mecca and writing my blog and haven't pursued outside work yet. But I'm very open if something fun and interesting comes along.
It's very cool being in one place for an extended period. We travel as much as possible, and usually we are moving from city to city every couple of days (like our last trip to Mexico/Belize/Guatemala) so being here for so long is relaxing. I don't feel compelled to have to see everything now! The one thing I haven't done yet is windsurf. That was and is on my list still. Although I have done lots of snorkeling all over the island. And I finally bought a mask that doesn't leak so I'm quite happy now.
Many keep asking 'where are you going next?' I don't know right now. At one point, Spain was a possibility but that hasn't worked out, so I will wait to see what spirit has in mind for me (us). I'm open. Spring is nearing, so warm weather abounds, which opens up more possibilities (Lord knows I can't take Thomas to a cold climate even though he loves cold air conditioning in the summer, go figure.)
