Thanks to Evie for our latest field trip suggestion!  We headed out to the Dole Pineapple Plantation in the North Shore area for a taste of delicious Hawaiian pineapple.  Now you'd think they would have samples all over the place: fresh pineapple, pineapple butters, tarts or salsas.  No go-they weren't giving anything away.  The only free sample we received was a small piece of pineapple after the (paid) train ride.

All in all it was very educational though.  I don't know about you, but I thought pineapples grew on trees like coconuts.  Instead they are hand planted in the ground.  And there are several varieties.  If you ever get the chance, I'd say it's worth one visit.  We had a good day: we walked the grounds, Thomas and Mecca got lost in the world's largest maze, and we took a train ride through the fields.  But the best part was the pineapple soft serve.  Let me just say, creamy, smooth and absolutely yummy!

I found myself googling more information on the subject of pineapples. The colorful foliage was breathtakingly beautiful. It looked like such a fun trip for you. Thanks for sharing it .
