Tony and Carol, two of Andrew's patients spend part of the year in Sydney having lived there for many years. They have a gorgeous apartment overlooking the harbour. We all drove up to the Blue Mountains in their 4x4. They were able to show us places off the main tourist route. Some of the public roads were designated 4x4 only and involved clambering in and out of significant gullies. Carol had prepared a great picnic. Tony made coffee on a bush kettle, a water heater that can be fuelled by dry twigs or any other fuel available.

At one stop, Perry's Lookdown (so called because the view is all beneath you), we hear bell miner birds in the valley below. They make a noise like alpine cowbells.

They were very kind and gave us lots of useful information about the Blue Mountains, driving in Australia etc.

Last evening in Sydney was spent in a Spanish restaurant.

Happy Birthday Alistair....x
