Day 117:  We arrived mid afternoon from Barcelona and caught a taxi to our hotel and was surprised to see that the picture that I had in my head about what Athens would look like was way off.  For one thing Athens is a lot more dirtier and uninviting then I thought, graffiti and rubbish everywhere and just not what I was expecting.  We didn't do anything this afternoon as Emma was sick and couldn't go out.

Day 118:  Today we went and checked out the Acropolis and surrounding areas, we went up to the Parthenon and saw some amphitheaters and other sculptures and buildings.  Even though the Parthenon still had scaffolding around it, it was still a very impressive building and I can see how it used to be the centre of their culture at one time.

That afternoon we went up to use our hotels pool as it was pretty hot, the view from the roof of the hotel is amazing where you see the Acropolis and it is twice as impressive at night time when it is completely lit up.

Day 119:  We did some more sightseeing of the Greek ruins today and first up was the Kerameikos which was an ancient part of the city that they uncovered which included houses, court yards and other buildings, there was also a museum there that they stored all of the artifacts that they found.

After the Kerameikos we went to the Ancient Agora which was where the ancient Greeks had some of their government and meetings/law courts, the most impressive building was the Temple of Hephaestus which is basically a mini Parthenon but in much better condition.  We walked through this area for a while and checked out the museum of some of the artifacts that they had found.

We then headed over to the temple of Zeus but it was closing just as we got there and they wouldn't let us in.  So we decided to head back to the hotel and go for another swim.

Day 120:  We slept in a bit this morning and then when we finally got up we just went for a swim until lunch time and headed down to where the Temple of Zeus is where we went and quickly saw it (if you call it a temple with just 8 or so columns still standing) and then just went across the road for lunch.

Day 121:  Today was a nothing day, we spent the day in the pool since we had seen the majority of the ruins that we wanted to see and we were a little over museums so we relaxed before our Greek Island tour starting in the morning.
