. Waiting… for what I didn't know… until my phone rang, and it was the hostel in Maffra calling me back. They said if I could get there today I could have some work on a vineyard for a few days. I said “I'll be on the next train!” So I cancelled my reservation (which luckily they did not require a deposit or a credit card) and walked back up to the Station, bought my train/bus ticket to Maffra, and had lunch. At 1:30 I boarded the train, and I’m currently somewhere in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs on my way to Sale by train, then to Maffra by bus. Tomorrow I’ll be working in a vineyard and in a few weeks, if I am able to stay, more work in the area comes up, I’ll be cutting and packing flowers. I also sent a resume to a gym wanting a trampoline coach in Melbourne, and they want to meet with me, so that’s another option as well, though I think that job probably doesn't start until the new year. So, anyways, I'm off to country Victoria for a few days of work!!
This morning my alarm went off at 430 (ugh) and I hiked over to the airport for my 6am flight. Two hours to Melbourne, and getting off the plane was a shock!! COLD!!! It was an absolutely freezing 15 degrees Celsius here this morning ;) (I’m not sure how I will ever cope with a Canadian winter again…) I took the Skybus to Downtown Melbourne’s Southern Cross station and walked 2 blocks to Nomad’s Hostel where I had reserved 3 nights. I also had been in contact with a hostel in Maffra regarding farm work, so I gave them a call and they said they had work starting in January. I attempted to check in and asked if I could clean for accommodation, but was told that they didn’t need anyone at the moment.. I was really hoping to get some cleaning work because I am hopelessly broke right now… I was a little disappointed, and decided to wait to check in, since I couldn't get my room until 2 pm anyways. So I just sat down at the table, and it was kinda weird, I was just sitting there, thinking “What am I gonna do”? I contemplated walking to a few other hostels to see if they needed cleaners, but I ended up just sitting there.
