world's longest covered bridge
Entry 5 of 15 | show all | print this entry |
Today we caravaned to Hartland, New Brunswick, Canada to see the word's longest covered bridge. it is 1286 feet long. The original bridge was started in 1898 and was finished in 1901. It was a toll bridge charging 3 cents per person and 1/2 cent per sheep. In 1921 the bridge was covered to prevent damage from rain water. In 1945 they added a pedestrial walkway. The traffic is one way and is on an honor system.
After walking across we headed for an eagle's nest said to be about 11 miles down the road. We got some pretty good shots of what turns out to be an Osprey. Out here they call them eagles.
WE have a get together dinner tonight and hit the road tomorrow. We are ready to be on the road again.
Later, Love to all.
