After hearing that Gibraltar wasn't worth visiting, we still ventured on our way to Gibraltar. I guess it's a good thing going into something with low expectations. I actually liked visiting this place. I thought the town wasn't interesting at all but while on the rock we had a beautiful view of Spain, Morocco (just a little bit), and Gibraltar. Gibraltar was handed over the English after a war and Spain never forgave them for this. They tried other times, unsuccessfully, to get it back. Since the only route to Gibraltar by land is via sea, they closed the border. They also refused recognize that Gibraltar has their own area code so when you call Gibraltar from Spain you dial a Spanish area code but from anywhere else in the world you would dial Gibraltar's area code. Spain was forced to open the border as a requirement for entrance into the EU. It makes the most sense to park your car in Spain and walk across the border

I too enjoyed Gibraltar. You just need to expect it to be busy and touristy, one of those places you go once in your life and don't need to go back to. The highlight for me was the baby monkeys we continued to see throughout the day. (Yes, they are technically tail-less monkeys and not apes) We must have seen 5 different mom and baby pairs during the trip, and they let you get so close. Check out the picts, they are amazing. In order to get up to the top of the rock via cable car we needed to pay cash and were expecting to pay with credit card, so for the rest of the day we were tying to get by on 5 Euros. It was so funny, felt as if we were poor students budgeting water and making sure we had enough for the bus back. Over all a great day and an experience I would recommend, as long as you are not afraid of the monkeys ☺.

I actually had tons of euros on me, but my experiment worked to get by on less than 5 euros a day. Brilliant!

Adam & the rock
. At the border crossing you would simply waive your passport to get through. We took the cable car up to the top of the rock and from there enjoyed the numerous apes that call Gibraltar home. They are everywhere and we went at a time that many of the apes had babies with them, so adorable. While on the rock we took a peak at St. Michaels Caves and enjoyed going in there not only for the stalagmites but also for how the caves were so much cooler than outside. We walked back to our hotel from the border (AC La Linea). SHE SAID:
