Later in the day, we rode around part of Lake Mead to see other parts of the lake. It's all dry volcanic rock and brown dusty dirt.  The newscasters on TV often refer to the monsoon period coming soon.  There apparently are times of the year when all is not dusty. But my guess is that it’s still mostly brown.

Note: The lake has a shoreline of 550 miles, covers 156,800 acres with a maximum depth of 498 feet.  In some of our pictures, you will see a white line around the lake above the water line.  In 1988, the lake reached its capacity due heavy snow pack and heavy spring rings.  The dam authorities release water as possible, but the high water remained for some time.  The white ring you see is the high water mark like a ring around your bathtub.  The current lake level is the normal level.

We planned our drive to be at Sunset Point at dusk.  Today was windy with some clouds in the sky so we hoped to get some good pictures.  Wow, were we ever rewarded.  We hope you enjoy following the progress of this sunset from beginning to end.

You should have some of these transferred to canvas (Costco) and hang them. Beautiful.

Thank you. I didn't know Costco did that. We'll look into it.
