There really isnīt too much to say about this place.  I arrived early in the afternoon and was still extremely tired from my 5am wake-up call but went to work.

The town of Heidelberg is a university town and it really showed just by walking around town.  I was surprised to see so many young people in the summer.  The big attraction of the city is the Heidelberg Castle which I set my sights on first.  Just like in Salzburg, it was overlooking the city down below and was reached by climbing the hill for a little bit.  Of if youīre lazy enough you can take the tram up to the top.  I entered the place and luckily wasnīt attacked by any cougars this time.  The place was kind of half-together and half ruins.  It had been destroyed by 2 wars and a major fire over the years so it has a pretty good excuse.  Most of the castle is only reachable by guided tour so I signed up for the soonest English tour which was pretty cheap at only 2€.  We learned a lot about who lived there over the years and and what went on in the varying rooms.  It was pretty neat to see the place but nothing really stood out in my mind as exceptional.  Maybe Iīve been doing the touristy thing too long to appreciate a good thing when I see it anymore.  But it was neat to see from the outside.  And especially at night all light up.  Afterward I just walked around and ate some awesome German food at my hostel at a discounted rate.  Then I found an internet cafe, and did my thing.

In my hostel I had some great roommates this time and who were respectful of other people.  Except for the young drunks in the street below.  We had to open our window because there was no airflow in the room.  And since we were in the Old Town with all the old stone buildings and narrow streets, sound reverberated quite well.  Especially into our room.  So I popped in the ear plugs and tried to sleep.  I woke up feeling not 100% but better than the previous day.

As I said before, not much to tell in this town.  As always, I wish I had more time. I kind of like that small-town charm.  The kind of towns where there is enough to do so you donīt get bored but not so much that you feel overwhelmed.  It was a neat town though.
