Where I stayed
Here are some final notes that I have observed about the Greeks and their way of life. I am merely an observer so don't take any offence to it.
-Greece seems to be cheaper than all the other countries that I have been too thus far. Which is good because Europe is expensive.
-Greeks like to yell when talking. I've seen it all the time, just two people having a conversation about whatever and they are yelling at each other. I could understand if they were in a club or next to a jackhammer, but they aren't. They also like voicing their opinions when they are stressed out. Like when the train was delayed for the 2nd time, we all got off the train at the station to stretch our legs, and 5 different people started to yell at the train ticket guy AT THE SAME TIME. It wasn't his fault the train was broken. He just checks the tickets. These people weren't uneducated low-income people either, they were middle-class just like you and I. I saw it happen on two different trains and a few stores.
-Greece is hot as hell! Enough said.
-They all speak English really well. I would say the Greeks and the Dutch speak it the best. I guess because both countries are so small and no-one but them speak their language so if they only spoke Greek and Dutch, they would be screwed globabally.
-A lot of Greeks have big noses. To go along with that, I say way too many men picking their noses. They would just go pick it without a care in the world. Gross!!
-All the dogs that I saw would just lay there in the shade. Big or small they looked dead to me. I guess it was the heat.
Funny story: I was walking to the new Acropolis Museum and there were probably about 10 guys selling those Asian umbrellas to tourists. Those paper ones that are pink, blue, orange and whatever other color. All I could see was these Pakistani guys with pink and blue umbrellas open started running around the corner of a building. There was a cop car coming down the street and they probably weren't supposed to hawk goods on their property. I saw the cops in the car laughing as they drove by. I've been told the Pakistani guys aren't exactly legal. Along with a lot of African guys too. And I've been told they are causing problems for the cities.
-When I was at the beach it seemed like the majority of the people there were obese. It's pretty easy to notice when they wear 2-piece bikinis. I thought I read an news article a while back that said the Greeks were one of the fittest nations. All the olive oil eating. And when I was on the beach I was thinking back and I do remember quite a few overweight people. It is what it is.
-When I was walking about or riding on a train, I noticed quite a few mothers and daughters together. They were usually dressed very similiar and they kind of seemed like best friends. I would say the daughters were somewhere between 15-25 years old. They were traveling, shopping, or drinking coffee together. Not bad, just different.
