I took an extremely long 10 hour train ride to get to Barcelona from Nice France. I wish I had taken the guy up on the overnight train because it wore me out and I wasted a day traveling.  I seem to only meet Aussies that come from the city of Melbourne because I sat next to one on the train down.  The guy is going to travel for 7 months.  Including 3 months on some rich guys yacht in the South Pacific.  Not too bad!

Barcelona is pretty cool so far.  I got so used to the French way and now have to stop saying the little bit of French that I actually know and switch to Espanol.  The little bit that I actually know at least.  So far the town is pretty cool.  A lot of tourists which is a blessing and a curse.  You can go just about anywhere and get with by with little Spanish but it kind of takes the fun out of traveling if your sitting somewhere and all you see are Americans wearing A & F shirts. Itīs that time of the year I suppose.

So far Iīve taken a free walking tour and went to the Picasso museum.  I think the Van Gogh and the Louvre museums were more impressive. The city is pretty compact thus far.   Alot of the time when you are walking around the city, the sun doesnīt even touch you because the streets are so narrow.  I find it ironic how the smaller the alleyway, the bigger the car that always tries to make it through when you are walking in it causing you to stop walking.

Fun Fact:  Apparently it is legal to walk around nude here. Thereīs some guy they call "The Elephant Man" because he walks around the city with only his black tattoo on his ass.  and his big penis hanging free.  I haven't the liberty to see him yet, and I'm not sure I want too.  But he's the "elephant man" for good reason I"m told.

Another Fun Fact: My hostel is right next to the main tourist area and also next to hookerville.  It's kind funny in a bad way, you see these old nasty dudes talking to these obese women in old clothes and their are bargaining for sex.  The Aussie that I met last night said he saw some German dudes having sex in an alley with a hooker a few days ago.  I would say at least they could get a hotel room or something.  Be somewhat civil about it.  But I guess not.

-New Info-I was walking home last night to my hostal and was accosted by some African street hookers.  1 came up to me tried to do the whole "hey baby" routine while trying to touch you.  Then out of nowhere 2 more hookers appear and were getting a little physical.  What there doing is trying to pickpocket you.  Itīs hard to follow 6 hands all over you so they become quite good at it.  I knew what there were doing and I fought back and pushed them away before anything happened.  I hate stupid street hookers!  I wasnīt even in Hookerville but in the busy main tourist street called La Ramba.  I met some Israeli women who were pickpocketed in the metro a few days ago.  Pickpocketing is huge in Europe and especially in Barcelona.  I even remember seeing signs in the Eiffel Tower elevator to watch your stuff.  It would be nice if the police would crackdown on it because they targert tourists who come over here to spend money in their country.  At least they could fight back a little.  Set up some traps or whatever.

Last night I did a supposed "Flamenco Dancing and Tapas" tour.  Itīs organized by an expat bar that has different stuff each night.  I met some really awesome people but I must say it wasnīt all that good.  To start we went to their sister bar and had what they called "Tapas."  Which is no way those were tapas.  I clearly remember french bread with various cheeses and meats on them.  Then some fried potato popper things.  Then french fries with mayonnaise and onion rings.  It did fill you up but only because it was all fried food.  And the entire time big groups of loud and annoying drunk people were all around us yelling and what not.  So we couldnīt even really talk together.  Then we were shuttled over to watch the Flamenco Dancing at a different place.  The dancing was really awesome and we all enjoyed ourselves.  The tour was way over priced for what we got.  I still need to eat some real Tapas now.

Today I did a lot of Gaudi the artist sightseeing.  He has an awesome park up on the hill over looking the city.  It had this round about park bench things that was all mosaiced out and formed perfectly to fit your back.  I also went to La Sagrada Familia.  Itīs the old crazy church with big huge ugly towers that isnīt even done being built.  Not until 2030 and it started in 1885 I think.  Not sure why itīs taking them so long to finish it.  I think itīs that whole slow going thing they have in Europe. It was a really neat church inside and out.  It had a bunch of stories of Jesus in all the concrete on the outside that was very cool to see.

New Stuff: Barcelona has got to be the worst place for hawkers. Iīve been in many places around the world, but I think Spain has the worst ones.  In the main tourist areas of Barcelona, you have Indian guys everywhere trying to sell cheap crap.  I was enjoying the sights and sounds of the awesome beach one day and was getting pretty annoyed.  There are about a billion people trying to hawk stuff.  You had the Indian guys selling drinks, food, coconut parts, sunglasses, towels, and anything else you could ever want.  Then you had the Asian old ladies selling massages for like 7 bucks.  They would massage you right there on the beach.  All this sounds fine and dandy, but when the same people come over every 5 seconds it gets pretty dam annoying.  I was alone most of the time so they werenīt super bad with me but some American guys behind me were getting harassed because someone would walk by and they heard them speaking English.  So naturally they would stop right in front of the group and convincingly try to sell them something.  Some of what they were doing was pretty convenient because you can have everything delivered to you and you can relax.  But they kind of took the relaxation out of the beach when you have to be a prick to them just so they get out of your way.  I realize that they probably came from an extremely poor country and are just trying to make a better life for themselves here, but please just leave me out of it.

-An upside to it is they have guys stationed about 100 ft in the city trying to sell you beer.  They just stand there openly with a 6-pack of the cheapest stuff like itīs no big deal.  And at 1€ each, itīs not a bad deal.  Like last night I met some German dudes out in a plaza and we just chilled and drank some beers.  When the guys would come by for the next round we would buy some more beer.  But the downside to that is they also try to sell you drugs.

Tonight I will be taking an overnight train to Sevilla.  Itīs supposed to be an awesome city in the south.  We shall see....
