Day 1, nothing too exciting.  My friend Mike drove me to the airport which was sad since he used to be one of the people who went on these adventures.  Unfortunately the responsibility of being a boyfriend and a homeowner has left him home bound the past two trips.
Anyways, I did my normal think of enjoying Xanax and booze on my flight.  Upon arriving in Tokyo we were informed that there was a health threat on board.  two men in full hazmat suits boarded, gave the stink eye to each passenger, and left.  No one was yanked off the plane so I assume we all passed the tests.
After a brief layover and three hour flight I landed in Beijing.  Again an announcement was made for everyone to remain in their seats.  A crew of health officals boarded the plane and scanned each passengers forehead with an infared thermometer.  If you had a temperture, off you went.  I did not so I can not report what happened to people in the back rooms of Bejing International Airport.  As we made our way through customs there were several thermo-cameras tracking people.  I looked back at the monitors and saw red and green blobs movivng through the customs lines.  Very high tech.  The swine flu scare really has Asia on it's toes.
A lovely ride on the train and a transfer to the metro I arrived 50 feet outside my hotel.  The airport train and metro are super nice, affordable, and convientent.  Go Olympics!!!
Time for much needed rest after 20 hours of travel and drinking!
