We met up with A and J and decided to get some more info from the very helpful Tourist Center in Ubud. There is supposed to be a shuttle to the animal safari at 1pm, what luck, only 10 minutes to wait. After 40 minutes, we decide to call it and head to the next best option (or the first best option depending on who you ask), Ibu Oka! I bow out to hit the noodle place that has many veggie options and cruise through the art market and a few stores on my way there. I settle in for a peaceful lunch with my thoughts, noodles, and Bin Tang...only to be joined by the pig crew and their take out lunch
After lunch we head to the Sacred Monkey Forest. Lots of monkeys, hungry, greedy monkeys. There are 3 temples, some great stonework, a grave yard, and more monkeys. I was actually and really attacked by a monkey this time. I gave him a banana and then he lunged at me, bared his teeth, and scratched my knee. I threw down the rest of the fruit (as you are supposed to do) and moved away, a local farmer yelled and threw something at the monkey to assist me. Jon, Jason, and Alison all assisted by laughing and mocking me.
We booked a bike tour for tomorrow. The tour is an all day event that starts at the top of Mt. Batur and ends back in Ubud with a few excursions sprinkled in between. Early to bed to get ready for the bike tour except....Jonny and I, we drag ourselves outta bed at 2:30 AM to watch the Euro Cup Finals. It was a good game and the team we decided to route for, Spain, wins. we would loved to have stayed with the folks we met, mopey Germans and reveling Spainards, but we have a 7:30 pick up for our countryside biking, so off to bed again.
Traveler's note: If you have a little extra cash the Lumbung Sari Cottages is a great place to stay. Despite the US $50 price tag we were able to get the room for $27 with a little negotiation.
