Sand, Sea, Sky...& Shopping!
Aug 31, 2011
It was too cold to swim at the beach, but we had lunch and walked along the shore. On the way back we stopped at a used book store and found several gems - Vonnegut books, old etiquette guides, and a Camel tobacco tin.
I’m ignoring the fact that the day ended with me realizing I have a tremendous sun burn xD (I swear I put sunscreen on! SPF 50!)
I spent a several lovely hours in a nearby beach town today, with two of my good friends. It was wonderful to spend time with the ocean, and with my friends. We stopped by Motif #1 ("the most often-painted building in America"). We also visited a new age shop, admiring the beautiful items on display – lapis lazuli, malachite, Celtic design jewelry, handmade boxes. At the store selling fair-trade items from India, Nepal, and Tibet, I bought small Lungta (Wind Horse) prayer flags and a sketching pencil shaped like a branch for my father as a father’s day gift. Mary got a tapestry. I particularly liked the hand-carved dark wood panels.
