After we’d had our fill we touched upon the fringes of Chinatown. The tourist shops are all the same but still entertaining. We found lucky bamboo plants (I was tempted) and happy Buddhas (I have one at home), and while looking through a stack of painted bamboo posters we found one of Jesus on the Cross.
On September 10th (Saturday): Mary and I went for a walk around the Public Gardens and the Common (I always want to add the “s”!). In the Gardens we saw a man blowing up balloons and letting them go, to the annoyance of the park rangers who couldn’t get him to stop and had to go running after them in order to pop them. In the Common(s!) we found the entrance to the little old cemetery and explored that for a while.
On September 12th (Monday): Mary and I took a long walk to the Ben&Jerry’s at the Prudential Center. It took us forever to find the food court, but Mary had a Buy 1, Get 1 Half Off so it was worth it. Splitting the cost for the one cup we did have to pay for made it extra worth it.
After stuffing ourselves on deliciousness we slowly walked back, going by the Boston Public Library and the John Hancock Building. We also went by the Greenpeace people; on the way to B&J’s Mary had told this one kid we’d be back, so back we were. They have good points, and I don’t mind talking, but I don’t like people trying to get my credit card number for monthly donations “of whatever you can afford”.
