Hello Everyone!  This is Carie Levy giving you a Gathering update!  Today was a very fun and exciting day!  While Elizabeth was at her CLYFR breakfast, the rest of us started our morning off with another Remedy Drive concert.  That certainly helped wake us all up!  After the concert, we attended our first interest center.  The theme was trust and discussed the various forms of trusting in God.  Throughout this very funny yet also very meaningful session, we learned how to trust God in the joyous times, and the sad and difficult times.  Trusting in God fully is often very difficult, especially  as we grow older and more independent, and sometimes it takes tragedy to show us what it really means to fully rely on God.

After that, we headed over to the food court in the mall to get some lunch. While I was there, I had the chance to see two of my very good friends which I haven't seen since 2nd grade! Something I really love about the gatherings is that they bring people together that you might never see again or meet in the first place.  I have been to several gatherings in the past and have made some amazing friends.  So far I have been blessed to  have  had the chance to see most of them again here at NYG.
Once we were finished with our lunch, we went over to the convention center where there was tons of things to see and do.  We got to say hello to Pastor Randy and others from the Acts 1:8 Mission Society.  Some of us also checked out some Concordia Colleges' booths and got some cool free stuff like sunglasses and beach balls.  After that, we all tried out some of the fun and games they offered there.  We colored a Live Love[D] banner, we played twister on the biggest twister mat I have ever seen, we raced in an inflateable obstacle course (I lost), and played human bowling!  Me, Mandy, Evelyn, Katie, and Jessica also decided to give away free hugs which we advertised with signs that we made!  We had a lot of fun!
The mass event tonight was an amazing experience as well.  We learned about how we often feel alone and are distracted by the things of this world.  Worldly pursuits end up leading us away from Christ and can greatly hurt our relationship with him.  As we put things above God, we are lead away from him. Though we may not realize at first, our worldly pursuits can quickly entangle us, trap us, and lead us into sin.  Once we are trapped, we cannot escape on our own.  We need a Savior. No matter how wrapped up we may get in this world or how sinful we have been, we never even come close to being out of reach of God's love.  Sometimes we feel that God must be angry with us for falling to far  or sinning to much and wouldn't want to save us, but that is because we are thinking of love by human standards.  We cannot come close to understanding God's love for us.  It is a love that we cannot experience by anyone or anything on this Earth.  God's love is perfect.  He sent His perfect love to Earth to save us from these worldly distractions that trap us.  Jesus is God's love and He welcomes us with open arms no matter what. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins by dying on the cross for us so that, no matter what happens throughout our life, we can have eternal life with Him.
To end our day today, we watched two men make amazing works of art.  One of them used sand which he spread over a board and drew pictures of various things like a swan, the solar system, people praising God, and Jesus hugging a girl. I couldn't believe the incredible things he could make in sand!  The other man made two large paintings of Jesus in a short amount of time which looked amazing!  It was a great way to end our night.
I am very excited to see what tomorrow will bring.   This has been an amazing experience so far and I have grown in my faith and relationship with Jesus! That is definitely the best part!
Bye! Carie Levy...signing off!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart... One of my favorite bible verses... and how often I fail at that . What a wonderful lesson for all of you yesterday. A special prayer for you today is that you will be inspired when you see the need at St Luke's ..... and translate it to needs at home. BLessings !!

Carie, What an amazing testimony. I know I never could have explained the gospel as easily and sweetly as you just did. You made me tingle with those words. Say hi to PR for me when you see him next. Hugs to everyone.
