This whole NYG adventure began billions of years ago...in a land far, far away, also known as Oxford/The Villages, FL. An amazing church called Amazing Grace started sponsoring our Transformers Youth Group in attending the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod National Youth Gathering (LCMS NYG) 2013. You probably bought calendars and cards, gained a few pounds from our Bake Sales, and enjoyed exciting evenings of entertainment and eating all to enable us to experience the NYG and obtain such an opportunity. It didn't come easily, it took a lot of hard work, patience, and waiting for God to call the perfect people into our lives to love and allow us to attend this gathering. With your financial and prayerful support, we made it, there is no more wait! (Or is there?) Without delay we want to say THANK YOU for reaching above and beyond your means to let us be refreshed and renewed by the spirit in spending time with faith family from all over the world.
Back to today, bright and early Carie, Katie, and Robin Levy, Mandy Mills, Evelyn Mohammed, Elizabeth (that's me) and Jessica Rockey, and Lois Schaefer gathered together with friends and family from Amazing Grace who sent us along the way powered by prayer and God's grace. Thanks to our chauffeurs, Aaron Levy and Steve Rockey, we were delivered to Tampa International Airport right on time to meet the right people. It wasn't always our time, it was God's. While waiting in line of the never ending security screening, we met a woman from Guideposts who will now follow our event online after meeting us. Several others along the way commented on our SWAG (Saved With Amazing Grace) shirts as we were able to witness that we were going to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with 25,000 other Lutheran teens from around the globe. We were waiting to board the plane in Tampa, delayed by lightning, and had the chance to shine God's light and share some joy with those sitting next to us. Reading encouraging cards from Congregation members also helped make the wait less of a waste.
While waiting in Atlanta, we encountered Georgia groups from Decatur and Peachtree City and even a group from Carlyle, IL. Once we arrived in San Antonio there was the waiting for luggage, rental car, and restaurant. Each time God said "Wait," it was for a reason. It's been a long season of waiting for this gathering, but I will wait just a bit more to have a more divine appointments with those God has and will place along our way.
Will you wait? While you are waiting, what can you do? Can you LIVE LOVE(d) too?
God Bless You, Elizabeth Rockey*
*Each individual will have night to share their San Antonio stories and memory making moments on the Blog. Check back each day!
