Whew! What a day! For some of us that meant paint, for others it meant dirt and mortar, but for all of us it meant sweat and fun! We are having such a great time here and thoroughly enjoying our experience with Acts 1:8 Ministry. In fact, we deduced that today, which was a work-day, was just as enjoyable as yesterday which was a play-day. We are making great new friends and forming closer relationships with those friends we already had.
We started out the day with a Bible study with the whole group and then we split up into groups. Rachel, Broc, LaRay, and Michael worked up in the bell tower five stories up off the ground. We were put in harnesses and stood on a platform that was made for this work. We were doing are variety of jobs including stripping old lead paint from windows to be painted (tomorrow's work including repainting the window frames), removing old mortar that has been ruined by the rain, wind, and snow and caused the bricks to move, and putting in new mortar. It was really interesting being up so high, sometimes when working with the mortar, we even had to work on a ladder; on this platform-good thing none of us were afraid of heights! Lois, Barbara, Jessica, Elizabeth, Lanzie, O'Nazia, and David worked on repainting the sanctuary, quite a job when you have such a big room! There were a lot of them, but even more room to cover, they had Ms. Barbara up on the scaffold! Annie took pictures and she and Stacey made our meals and Pastor Randy went around everywhere to help. We all had a great time getting to know each other better and spending time working on this old church.
After we finished working, we ate dinner, and then immediately headed over to Granite City, IL for a youth meeting. This youth group started out with 0 people. It's 3 churches combined who all together have about 14 kids and has grown leaps and bounds in the past few months. It was quite an inspiration to see how God can work miracles and exciting to imagine what we could do in the near future!
All together, today was a great day! Tomorrow we will be finishing the jobs we didn’t complete today and then head off to another youth meeting in the evening, I believe we are going to Red Bud. Thanks to everyone for their lovely comments and gracious prayers.

God’s Blessings,
