Where I stayed
And we raised our hands and cried AMEN! What an amazing and blessed day we had; from an easy morning to a great dinner to an unforgettable evening of worship and growth at our mass event. There are over 25,000 youth that have officially invaded New Orleans as of today. There is a group from every state except for Maine and Vermont here at the youth gathering. It is amazing to spend time with so many other youths and leaders that are here for the same reason, because WE BELIEVE.
We started out the morning by getting a little more sleep than we had been (3 more hours! we went from 6am to 9am!) and the Elizabeth and Rachel made their way down to the pool, which turned out to be quite small, but it was relaxing
Once we all regrouped we decided to head over to Creole Creamery which is famous for it's variety of flavors (from classics like chocolate and vanilla to flavors like beet, lavender honey, and cucumber!) and it's huge bowl of 8 scoops (I can't remember what it's called, but it's so big that if you can finish it all by yourself you get your name on a plaque-none of us tried, not for $25-it also has just about every topping available on it). After that we drove around the Garden District and stopped in at a few shops-including a shoe store and had fun trying on shoes, or at least Rachel and Elizabeth did-on a shopping strip and from there headed over to dinner at Pascal Manal's Restaurant where we had absolutely amazing service and even better food, this restaurant was the birthplace of BBQ-shrimp, a meal so messy they put a bib on you! From there we headed over to The Dome so we could get a good seat for the Mass Event. We were able to get seats that were one row back in the seat section of the dome.
The Mass Event was simply spectacular
When the Mass Event ended we headed back over to our hotel, along with all 25,000 other people here, the witnessing we do by simply walking on the streets with our backpacks in such large numbers is amazing. We have had multiple people ask us what the backpacks are for and why there are so many young people with them, and by that we are able to open the door and begin a conversation. This will be a great experience of growth and everyday will be great. Tomorrow we have an opening Bible study and then we are going to work at the Florida-Georgia District Booth for an hour and a half and then we will be able to walk around the convention center and visit booths and some interactive events. In the afternoon we will be visiting some seminars and then have some more time to walk around the booths and then we will have another Mass Event at The Dome
