Where I stayed
On Christmas Eve we got pedicures, did some last minute christmas shopping for each other and then went to an amazing banquet dinner that the owner of our hostel threw on the rooftop of his apartment. Amazing.
Christmas Day we slept in, did breakfast, did presents, then went to the cliff-top Larco Mar Mall for brunch. After wandering around there for only a short amount of time we decided it was time for lunch and stumbled upon a restaurant doing an amazing looking buffet. It was crazy. Obviously vegetarians get ripped off a little paying full price for a buffet, but it was still awesome. It was only 60 Peruvian Soles for the most amazing array of salads, pastas, snacks and desserts. There were even chefs behind the different stations ready to cook your selection while you waited. The pasta chef was my new best friend. Kaela fell in love with the chocolate fondue fountain.
After stuffing ourselves at this crazy lunch we decided to see a movie at the nearby cinema. We saw Avatar (in English). It was really good. Pretty epic. I would recommend checking it out in cinemas.
We spent Christmas Night back at our hostel, which was once again throwing a bit of a party - this time a Christmas Night BBQ. Good thing we stuffed ourselves at lunch because vegetarians were not well catered for here. Still, it was a nice gesture.
Boxing Day evening we met up with our Tucan Tour Group (in one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in - could get used to this!) and settled in for 3 weeks together...
Lima has an art project in its major parks - bulls. Yep, statues/artwork of bulls. We made a mission of trying to find as many as possible. The photos are here.
