We have both hit a low - as the tenor of the previous post exemplifies. We are both absolutely shattered, drawn out, run down. Dead. Our Tokyo experience was somewhat muted - hampered by our pervading tiredness but still we did not completely stop. We walked for miles every day and although we had early nights and slept well, this slowing down only allowed for the previous months to catch up with us. Beth has a throat infection and is running a mild temperature and we are both looking forward to being cooped up on a boat and being forced to do nothing. Having said all this, our Japan experience has been truly wonderful. We have seen so many amazing things in the last month, learnt so much along the way and it will take months, years to digest it all and fully understand what it is we have been exposed to. For now? we are overloaded - utterly saturated.
The constant worry about money has taken its toll and meant that we have never been able to properly relax. There are certain key experiences (mainly surrounding food) that we would dearly have loved to do but that were well out of our price-range (we didn't even have sushi!) but then we are on a traveller's budget and not on a holiday spree and paying extra for this here or that there could be the difference in visiting a whole other country later down the line. But I would not change these things - it just leaves more to come back to and experience some other time - I am just looking forward to getting to Beijing and stuffing my face with as much food as I can and necking as many cheap beers as my heart contents.
