Pamplemousses...

Moved hotels today back to the Ti Fleur Soleil after a fantastic brekkie on the rooftop of the Grand Baie Beach Hotel where I had been staying for the last two nights. Took an express bus towards Port Louis to Pamplemousses...because, really I HAD to do something other than upload photos on the Internet...
Spent an hour or so wandering around the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens, solo after trying to get one of the eight guides that were doing NOTHING but sitting around to show me around...apparently they are physically unable to move unless there is more than one person to guide around...
Turned out, I preferred the solitude and the beauty of the surroundings was captivating and so relaxing. Started out with the giant tortoises which reminded me of my old desert tortoise we had growing up named Mortimer...and continued to wander until I made my way back towards the entrance.
Walked on the roadway for a bit until I got to the L'Aventure du Sucre, an old sugar factory turned museum and restaurant Le Fangouria where I had a light lunch and sugar cane vanilla ice tea and sorbet!
Found a taxi driver...or should I say as usual, he found me and got him to take me back to Grand Baie for half of what it was quoted in the am...of course I had to listen to his ravings about American's war in Iraq causing petrol in Mauritius to be 1 Euro a litre etc....I kept saying, I didn't vote for him, I didn't vote for him...until he eventually quieted down.
Watched the sunset from the beach in front of my hotel and then came back for some additional resting...I think I am almost caught up from Africa!
